I'm almost there...
My trip to Alaska has officially begun....Well, actually it began yesterday at 8:30 a.m. when I got out of bed after being up till 2 a.m. After a leisurely morning, we headed to Minneapolis. Stopped at the Como Zoo to waste some time and break up the trip for my parents, sister, and her kids as they were heading back to Kansas City. Then I was off to the airport with a few hours wait until my flight to Portland...which is where I am now. I'm really ready for sleep, but I don't think that's going to happen, although it's really quiet here now. But I don't want to risk that I'd really fall asleep and then miss my flight to Seattle. So I think I'll try to stay awake. Not too many people here...can't "people watch." :( I'm sure more will show up as "normal" hours arrive. My connecting flight in Seattle is scheduled to leave 40 minutes after I'm supposed to land, so hopefully I'll make it. I guess I'll get to watch the sun rise. Most of you know, that's not a common occurrence for me!!! :) Well, I guess that's all there is to say at this point. Catch up with you later.

So much to do...so little time!
The time is quickly winding down before my trip to Alaska. I'll be visiting my sister in Kansas City for about 10 days, and then when I get home, it'll be time to pack like crazy. First thing to do??? Make lists, of course! My list of things to buy is gradually getting longer, and I've realized that most of the items on that list have to do with my camera. But they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'll be taking lots of "word pictures" this summer! Not sure how often I'll be able to update from Alaska, but I'll try to keep you up to date on my activities!

The excitement builds!
As the school year winds down, it's time to start getting the mindset of VACATION! This summer, I'm going to Alaska! Destination: Wrangell...a small island in Southeast Alaska. What I'm looking forward to: visiting family, cool temperatures, and PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES. Wrangell is surrounded by mountains, which provide wonderful photography opportunities, and I've heard that my family is already planning activities for us to do when I'm there. Glaciers, fishing, picnic at Nemo Point (the most beautiful place in Wrangell!) ferry trips, etc. have been mentioned. The possibilities are endless. My camera (Mylo) is getting ready for the trip also. Extra memory cards have been purchased and yes, I did even get some REAL film for a panoramic camera I have. Hopefully I have enough for the 6 1/2 weeks I'll be gone! July 8th is coming quickly. Can't wait!
